Misfits - Night Of The Living Dead (EP)

Misfits - Night of the Living Dead (1979) ep

Night of the Living Dead was the third EP, and fourth release, by the New Jersey horror punk band The Misfits. It was released on October 31 at a Halloween show at Irving Plaza in New York, NY, 1979 by the bands' own Plan 9 Records, catalog number PL1011.

The title track, "Night of the Living Dead", is based on the 1968 horror film of the same name, Night of the Living Dead. Interestingly, although there was a 1969 action movie titled Where Eagles Dare, the song with that name was not based on it. The third song, "Rat Fink," was a cover of the song by Allan Sherman from his 1963 album My Son, The Nut. This was the only studio recorded cover song while Glenn Danzig was a member.

"Rat Fink" was later released on Collection II (1995) and all three tracks are available on the Box Set (1996).

This EP only had one pressing of 2000 copies on black vinyl. An insert that was the first ad for Fiend Club, The Misfits' fan club, was included although not in all copies.

"Night of the Living Dead" 2:02
