Snapping drums, heavy bass, but both used in a really warmly-wrapped approach to Soul Music!! The album's an extremely fresh debut from Black I, done in a style that's got a richly organic approach overall, one that builds strongly from the drum work of Eric Brown and basslines of Michael Griot, then layers Brown's vocals back over the top, and still leaves plenty of space for a wide arrange of other instrumentation!! The style is fluid and spacious, and the live rhythms on bass and drums make for a nice change from some of the too-programmed Soul on the market, and even from some of the too "broken" beats that have been coming strongly from overseas. The album features guest vocals from Omar and guest trumpet from Russell Gunn!!
